On the hunt for the best music festivals in Portugal? Get ready to dance under the sun and stars with music from around the world! Following the success of our previous Portugal Music Festival Guide, we're back with more incredible, heartwarming and mindful gatherings for your summer radar.
This year, as we reaffirm our commitment to sustainability, we’re shining a spotlight on community-driven, independent music festivals in Portugal—those organised by the people, for the people. But don’t worry, we’re still featuring a few of the big hitters so you don’t miss out!
At Siesta Campers, we support a healthy balance between headline acts and community-led gatherings. So whether you’re chasing bass-heavy dance floors, soulful acoustic sets or holistic wellness retreats, we’ve got you covered. Read on for our picks for the best music festivals in Portugal for 2025—and why a campervan is the ultimate way to experience them.
1. YARD Festival – Lisbon | 22-25 May
A hidden gem in Portugal’s electronic music scene, The YARD Festival brings a raw, underground vibe to the outskirts of Lisbon. Set among the white sand mountains, this music festival curates a top-tier lineup of deep house, minimal, techno, and experimental beats.
Unlike massive commercial festivals, The Yard keeps things stripped-back and immersive, focusing on quality sound systems, hypnotic visuals, and a dedicated crowd that’s all about the music.
Pro Tip: While there’s no on-site camping, you can pick up your camper in Lisbon. The stunning Costa da Caparica is just down the road.
YARD Festival
2. Primavera Sound – Porto | 12-14 June
This Porto music festival delivers a stellar chart-topping line-up every year, and 2025 is no exception. Blending indie, rock and electronic DJ sets, Primavera Sound will bring you a well-rounded 3-day music experience.
If you’re manifesting a Brat Girl summer, then this is the place to be with Charli XCX headlining (last year, Lana Del Rey had the crowd in tears– a hard act to follow). Other headliners on our radar include Caribou, Fontaines D.C., Deftones and Central Cee.
Note that camping, including with campervans, is not permitted at the Primavera Sound. Attendees typically stay in nearby campsites or accommodations such as hotels, hostels, or guesthouses in Porto, Matosinhos, or the Foz do Douro area.
Pro Tip: Don’t miss a chance to explore Porto’s beaches or road trip to the incredible Gerês National Park before or after the festival.
Primavera Sound
3. Waking Life – Crato | 18–23 June
“It is a paradoxical space where Alice can feed her head and where a collective body can imagine the worlds we could garden when there is freedom to break from default reality.”
Frequently ranked as one of the best music festivals in Portugal, that’s how the Waking Life crew describes their week-long odyssey designed to stir the senses and spark the imagination. Need we say more?
Timed around the summer solstice and set by a lake in deep Alentejo, it’s the perfect escape where you can dance from sunset to sunrise on the longest day of the year. This is where the creme de la creme of Europe’s underground electronic music comes to play. Expect non-stop techno and 4x4 beats alongside interactive art installations, a moonlit cinema, spoken word performances and mindfulness workshops woven into the experience. With a super friendly, international crowd, it’s often hailed as one of Europe’s most magical festivals.
Sustainability is at the heart of Waking Life—the organisers dedicate the rest of the year to regenerating the surrounding flora and fauna.
Pro Tip: Shuttle buses run from Lisbon, Porto and Madrid, but experiencing this festival by campervan is the best. It’s a bit of a walk from the camping parking to the lake, so bring a bicycle or enjoy the stroll.
Regular tickets sold out at lightning speed this year, but you may be lucky to still score some on ticketswap! If you’re lucky to get your hands on some, book a Siesta Camper in Lisbon or Porto for the ultimate experience.

If a reggae festival on the beach sounds like something you’d enjoy, Afro Nation is the place to be. The world’s biggest Afrobeats festival brings Amapiano, Hip-Hop, Dancehall and R&B to Portugal’s sun-kissed shores. Every summer, this sun-soaked music festival brings together global superstars, electrifying performances, and a crowd that knows how to party. Expect massive sound systems, cocktails all round and non-stop good vibes.

7. NOS Alive – Lisbon | 10–12 July
Bringing big-name pop and indie artists, NOS Alive music festival is where your Spotify Wrapped comes to life.
Our highlights for this upcoming summer season? On Friday, headliner Olivia Rodrigo will be screaming about her driver's license (we hope you have one of these if you are renting a van!) and Glass Animals with UK indie anthems for the ages. On Saturday, look out for Girl in Red, Sammi Vigi and Sam Fender. To close the weekend, let’s throw in some classic indie rock with Kings of Leon, Dead Poet Society, Foster the People and Bright Eyes taking the stage.
Pro Tip: Camp out at the official campsite in Monsanto or one of the free campsites around Lisbon.
NOS Alive
8. Boom Festival – Idanha-a-Nova | 14–24 July
The biggest and possibly the best music festival in Portugal—Boom! Starting in 1997 as a psychedelic trance festival, it has grown into one of Europe’s most iconic gatherings, blending sustainability, diversity and creativity into a truly unique experience. Fun fact: our founders were there for the very first edition (yes, they’ve been around that long!).
Today, Boom is a 100% independent festival that gathers over 50,000 people from across the globe. The biennial event takes place near Castelo Branco and sells out in under two days.
Boom has won the Greener Festival Excellence Award four times. Every year, it doubles down on its sustainability efforts—literally. From renewable energy initiatives to collecting 45,000 litres of waste vegetable oil to power its dance floors, Boom is paving the way for an off-grid, eco-conscious festival future.
Top Tip: It’s going to be hot and dusty. Do yourself a favor and book a campervan with a shower. It’s a game changer.

We only hear good vibes from this small-scale, intimate and peaceful gathering, firmly rooted in its creative ecological ideology. The festival features three stages with a diverse lineup from the Dub Temple to the River Station and Roots Garden. Let the heavy bass soothe you through peaceful days and nights.
