To feel connected with the land and wild spaces was the raison d'être for our small family business. Now, the necessity to fight to protect our planet is more urgent and evident than ever. At Siesta Campers, we're committed to making real changes, taking meaningful action and seeing these to fruition. They say that sustainability starts in your own backyard and we are quite literally doing just that!

We’ve acquired 4.2 hectares of protected nature reserve in the Serra do Caldeirão, an area where wild forests were gradually replaced by agriculture, which later fell into neglect as younger generations moved away. In 2012, devastating forest fires destroyed the remaining trees and local livelihoods. While planting trees in the Algarve is relatively simple, nurturing them is the real challenge—requiring irrigation, care, and control of invasive wild cistus to give native species a chance to thrive.

We’ve planted native trees like Alfarroba, oaks, and medronho. We also support reforestation projects in Portugal and Africa. Through our partnership with Tree Nation, you can track and celebrate these efforts  here

We want you to get involved and be part of this exciting project. We are looking for forest guardians to help us protect and rewild this zone, thus nurturing biodiversity. We've been organizing local community planting days, and so far, we've planted thousands of trees!
