We plant one tree for every rental
Our commitment for a better future
To feel connected with the land and wild spaces was the raison d'être for our small family business. Now, the necessity to fight to protect our planet is more urgent and evident than ever. At Siesta Campers, we're committed to making real changes, taking meaningful action and seeing these to fruition. They say that sustainability starts in your own backyard and we are quite literally doing just that!
We’re reforesting Portugal
We've bought 4.5 hectares of protected nature reserve in the Serra da Caldeirão. The original wild forests in this zone were slowly destroyed to make way for agriculture, which was subsequently neglected due to the migration of the population's youth. In 2012, devastating forest fires swept through, wiping out local livelihoods and the remaining trees. We've partnered with Gone West and in collaboration with local landowners we will plant one native tree for every booking received.
Reforestation, that's the easy part! We want you to get involved and be part of this exciting project. We are looking for forest guardians to help us protect and rewild this zone thus nurturing biodiversity. We've been organizing local community planting days and so far we've planted 850 trees! If you'd like to participate in a tree planting or coastal clean up session, sign up for our newsletter!
